Mark Wahlberg Reveals How He Overcame Injury On Day 1 Of Filming ‘Most Physically Demanding Role’ Of His Life
Mark Wahlberg is currently promoting his new action movie Arthur the King, which is set to hit theaters on March 15. After both starring in and producing the film, Wahlberg is opening up about how the role of Mikael Lindnord was the “most physically demanding” that he’s had in his life, as he was forced to overcome a major injury on the first day of filming.
Wahlberg’s Injury In ‘Most Physically Demanding’ Role
“I tore my meniscus the first day, and I’m producing the movie, so I couldn’t shut the production down. I had to fight through,” Wahlberg, 52, told Fox News. “These guys, you know, adventure racers, endurance athletes, [are] incredible, absolutely incredible.”
Wahlberg is particularly excited to see this film because it is based on a true story.
“I always gravitate towards true stories,” he explained. “Remarkable, remarkable story, I cannot wait for people to see it. There’s not going to be a dry eye in the house, that’s for sure.”
The movie is about “an adventure racer” who “adopts a stray dog named Arthur to join him in an epic endurance race,” and it stars Wahlberg along with Simu Liu, Michael Landes, Nathalie Emmanuel and Paul Guilfoyle.

Wahlberg’s PSA With Canine Co-Star
Last week, Wahlberg starred in a PSA to promote pet adoption with his Arthur The King canine co-star Arthur. The PSA was for the Best Friends Animal Society, and it begins with Wahlberg sitting with Arthur as he says, “There are dogs and cats in shelters all across the country hoping to find their very own people.”
Wahlberg went on to say that animals “have an amazing ability to be an amazing friend,” just like Arthur.
“All they need is someone like you to show them the way home,” the father of four continued. “Best Friends Animal Society is working to make sure that every dog and cat in America has a chance to find a loving home of their very own.”
“When you adopt your next pet from a shelter, or a rescue group, you are helping to save the lives of pets like Arthur and so many others,” he concluded.

Wahlberg’s Fit Lifestyle
Despite his injury on the set of Arthur The King, Wahlberg has managed to maintain his grueling fitness regime that has kept him in shape for decades.
“You know what, clean living is the key,” Wahlberg said recently. “Eat right, exercise, everything in moderation. If you’re going to have a couple of glasses of Flecha – neat, clean, have some water, recover – everything in moderation. You always want to celebrate your accomplishments and work hard, but on to the next.”
“Don’t spend too much time dwelling on something you’ve already done,” he added. “We have new goals every day, more things to accomplish. We want to encourage people to be the healthiest, best versions of themselves.”
Wahlberg is a true inspiration, and there isn’t really anyone else in Hollywood like him at the moment. We can’t wait to see his new movie when it comes out next month, as it looks like it will be a hit that the whole family can enjoy!
