Brett Favre Reveals Sad Details About Toby Keith’s Final Days – ‘He Was Just Tired’
The country music star Toby Keith died on Monday at the age of 62 after a lengthy battle with stomach cancer. Now, the former NFL quarterback Brett Favre is speaking out to reveal new details about Keith’s final days.
Favre Opens Up About Keith’s Final Days
Favre, 54, told TMZ Sports that he was close friends with Keith and last spoke to him a few days before his death.
“I think in the end he was just tired,” said Favre. “He did say that to me when we had our conversation, he said, ‘Brett… whatever happens, I’m okay with it.'”
Favre went on to say that he was hoping that Keith had “turned a corner” on his health despite his sickly appearance at his December shows in Las Vegas, Nevada. During their final conversation, however, it was clear that Keith wasn’t doing well.
“He said, ‘I quit chemo and it probably did more damage to me than the cancer did,’” Favre continued. “And he said, ‘I just hope I didn’t quit it too late, but… I’m thankful I got a chance to play some shows. I finished them.’”
Favre Praises Keith
Favre also praised Keith for the way that he handled his stomach cancer battle.
“[Keith] handled it with grace and faith and family and stood up to the cancer as good as you can,” he stated, going on to add that he and the country music singer bonded over golf. Though Favre couldn’t “remember a good or a bad shot he hit,” he did remember his positive attitude.
“I can just remember him smiling, and had everyone hooting and hollering and having a lot of fun,” he said before describing Keith as someone who was “a lot of fun” and ”an entertainer” to the end.
“He was the best,” Favre concluded.

Tributes For Keith Pour In
The world was devastated when Keith’s family announced his death earlier this week.
“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on Feb. 5 surrounded by his family, ” they said in a statement, according to People Magazine. “He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”
In the days since his death, tributes have been pouring in for Keith.
“Toby Keith was a patriot, you know, and he did not care who had a problem with it,” the country music star John Rich told Fox News.
“Waking up to the terrible news that our friend, and legend @tobykeith has passed away from cancer,” Rich later added on social media. “He was a true Patriot, a first class singer/songwriter, and a bigger than life kind of guy. He will be greatly missed.”
Reba McEntire paid tribute to Keith as well, saying, “We’re going to miss him so much, not only as a friend but a fellow performer and person in the music business and from Oklahoma,”
“But he doesn’t have to fight anymore, and he doesn’t have to hurt anymore,” she added of Keith. “I hope one day to get to see him up in Heaven. Thank God we have his wonderful music to keep us company, even though he’s not here on earth with us.”
Keith was a true legend, and there will never be another one like him. Please join us in saying a prayer for Favre and his other loved ones during this difficult time.
