After Visit With Trump, RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel Will Resign: Report
Ronna McDaniel, Chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and niece of Senator Mitt Romney, will reportedly resign from her position.
McDaniel has been inundated with calls to resign for some time and the news comes amidst reports that the RNC has been facing some challenges in its fundraising efforts.
The New York Times reports that the RNC Chair will step down following the South Carolina GOP primary on February 24th.
RNC spokesperson Kieth Schipper neither confirmed nor denied the move in a statement to the Daily Mail, but indicated a decision on the matter would be made coinciding with the Times’ reported timeline.
“Nothing has changed. This will be decided after South Carolina,” Schipper said.
Ronna McDaniel Resigning After Visit With Trump
News of Ronna McDaniel resigning comes just days after Politico reported that she had visited former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.
Trump, in a Truth Social post a day before her visit, described McDaniel as “my friend” but added that while she is “now Head of the RNC,” he’d be “making a decision the day after the South Carolina Primary as to my recommendations for RNC Growth.”
During an interview with Fox News, he hinted at things to come.
“I think she did OK, initially, in the RNC. I would say right now, there’ll probably be some changes made,” he said.

‘Better Late Than Never’
When it comes to leadership in the Republican party, it’s always best to just listen to what they say. McDaniel telegraphed the current landscape for the GOP in remarks made last November before they took control of the House.
McDaniel made it clear that the GOP will reach across the aisle and work with President Joe Biden should they win control of Congress following the midterms.
“If we win back the House and the Senate, it’s the American people saying to Joe Biden, ‘We want you to work on behalf of us and we want you to work across the aisle and solve the problems that we are dealing with,’” she said at the time.

She further told the CNN host that Republicans would not simply be a roadblock to the President’s agenda. And true to her word, they’ve not been a roadblock for Biden, they’ve been a police escort to get him where he needs to be quicker.
News of McDaniel’s possible departure comes as Axios reported that the RNC is entering 2024 with a pathetic $8 million in cash on hand.
Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy celebrated the impending change of leadership on social media. You may recall that he eviscerated Ronna McDaniel during a presidential debate in November.
BREAKING: RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has told Donald Trump she will be resigning after the South Carolina primary.
Good 🔥
Here is what Vivek Ramaswamy had to say about McDaniel during the primary debates.
"We've become a party of losers… Since Ronna McDaniel took over as… pic.twitter.com/MvnuidPjdH
“We’ve become a party of losers at the end of the day,” Ramaswamy said.
“Since Ronna McDaniel took over as chairwoman of the RNC in 2017, we have lost 2018, 2020, 2022, no red wave, that never came. We got trounced last night in 2023,” he added.
McDaniel fired back by mocking Ramaswamy as “need(ing) a headline” due to low poll numbers. But now, he’s the one who’s laughing.
“Better late than never,” he said following news that McDaniel was resigning. “No more losing.”
